You may want to recheck history then pained1. The 1960's saw tremendous movements from the so-called left. The 1930's saw the establishment of many social programs we still have today. The US has typically gone back and forth; we most definitely have not been consistently conservative from many standpoints. The only argument you may have is if you compare us to European countries; liberalism here looks conservative in the eyes of most European countries (most of which are quickly beginning to outpace the United States in many facets).
