3. Exit Motivations - In several goods markets and most security markets, a critical consideration is resale value. Especially over the investment time horizon. I may for example believe that a house in Detroit today is grossly under-priced at $20,000 but I still won't buy it if my investment model depends on reselling it in a couple of years. So relative value is critical for goods that won't be consumed, depreciated or devalued completely. That is not the case with the labor market. If I somehow could know accurately and in advance that a given worker would be highly productive, I don't honestly care what other employers think of him because I'm not looking to trade him.
