Guild wanted to remodel the garden substantially, too. “The land was attractive, with lots of trees. It’s parkland and we don’t see any houses. But the little access road came right up through the middle, so we moved that,” she says. “I absolutely love gardening and my idea was to create a garden that was right for the landscape – planting olives, rosemary, lavender and lots of fruit trees – cherry and figs. Closer to the house, there are flowers and a vegetable garden. The ground was so fertile and I wanted it to be quite rustic.” |
