They moved to New York a few years later, where they were influenced by both feminism and the city's punk scene. "Growing up in the South [in Birmingham, Alabama] we were both very naive," 24-year-old Crutchfield says. "When we moved we realised there were a lot of amazing people talking about feminist issues. It's definitely something that's still alive, especially in New York." After the twins’ pop-punk group P.S. Eliot disbanded in 2011, Crutchfield decamped to Philadelphia to form a new band, taking fellow P.S. Eliot singer/guitarist Kyle Gilbride with her. The pair invited bassist Keith Spencer, who they had also toured with, to join before completing the line-up with drummer Jeff Bolt. |
